These are precisely the qualities that marines have forged and embraced throughout their nearly 500-year history, considering themselves heirs to the virtues that Don Miguel himself displayed throughout his life. Among these virtues, I would like to mention loyalty, discipline, tenacity, and courage—not only when he fought on the decks of galleys or galleons, or from them over enemy lands, but also the example of leadership, camaraderie, and capacity for suffering that he demonstrated during his captivity in Algiers. These are the guiding principles that have led today's marines to train for over thirty years in the mud of the Bay of Cádiz, where the harsh conditions demand both individual and collective values. Collective values such as camaraderie, cohesion, and a spirit of unity, and individual values such as a spirit of sacrifice, perseverance, and a drive for self-improvement. These are all values that we want you to share with us on that very special day.
For all these reasons, the Marine Corps has organized for you the II FAN-PIN Charity Race "Miguel de Cervantes", in which, as a further demonstration of solidarity, the proceeds from the registration fee will be allocated to the charitable works carried out by the Nuestra Señora del Carmen Association and some other associations in the Bay of Cádiz.
For those runners who didn't have the opportunity to participate last year, this race is approximately 8 km long. It begins with a 6 km section over a mix of asphalt, dirt, and water, incorporating obstacles, and finishes with a 2 km stretch through mud that requires participants to be in peak physical condition. To successfully tackle this challenge, you need to be able to swim and be in the best possible physical and mental shape, in addition to running.
If you want to enjoy a day with us, where you can not only share this challenge, but also feel like one of us for the morning, it will be an honor for us to welcome you to our facilities along with your family and those friends who want to accompany you to give you strength and encouragement, where that day will also be your home and our family.
Don't forget, we'll be waiting for you at the Marine Corps base in San Fernando, Cadiz, on October 7th.
GB IM Antonio Planells Palau.
Commander of the “Naval Tercio”
BRAVE ON LAND AND SEA!

GREETINGS FROM HIS EXCELLENCY GENERAL, COMMANDER OF THE NAVY THIRD
With the same spirit but with even greater enthusiasm, we start another year...
A sporting event with unique characteristics on the national circuit of
so-called extreme sports are once again available to everyone
Those who want to feel and experience the sensations of a marine,
our famous and traditional “FAN-PIN” training test.
On this occasion, too, and as expected, we do it in
dates close to the anniversary of the Battle of Lepanto, to commemorate
our eminent Spanish writer, but also a child who fought
by sea and land, embarked on galleys and galleons, and which gave so much glory to
Spain at the beginning of the 18th century. In this sense, the reader will have discovered that I am referring to the marine soldier Don Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra.
It is precisely the spirit of those marines, personified in
Don Miguel, this is what we want to share with you. Let it be known...
human qualities and military virtues that an infantryman should cultivate
navy to cope with the harshness of life on board and combat
both on land and at sea.
